Between 23 and 24 July, representatives of the Court of Audit (TCU) participated in a mission to Brussels, Belgium, to learn about the EU experience in social security indicators and control. Sponsored by the EU-Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Facility and coordinated by the Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management (MPOG) and the European Union Delegation in Brazil (Delbra), this initiative resulted from a partnership between Brazil and the EU in the exchange of information and best practices about their respective social security systems.
According to TCU auditor Mr Rodrigo Hildebrand, one of the mission delegates, this exchange – happening within the Sector Dialogue on Social Development and Employment - has enabled a comparative analysis between the EU’s social security structure, indicators and controls and Brazil’s General Social Security Regime (RGPS), which includes private sector workers.
"The information and impressions gathered by the mission will be aggregated with other work carried out by the TCU and the work produced by the experts," says Mr Hildebrand. He adds that the partial results of this work will be discussed in a Reference Panel scheduled for early September.
