Brazil and the European Union maintains an exchange of information focused on entrepreneurship and public policies aimed at the internationalization of young entrepreneurs. The study Supporting Young Entrepreneurship In Internationalization (Internationalization support for young entrepreneurs) was funded by the EU-Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Facility, which is jointly coordinated by the Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management (MPOG) and the European Union Delegation in Brazil (Delbra). On 18 September, the preliminary results of this study were presented during the 5th Iberoamerican Congress of Young Entrepreneurs (CIJE), held in Brasília (DF).
During the conference, the research was presented on two occasions. The first one consisted of a work meeting for guests, in which two subjects were discussed: contributions of diasporas to the exchange of information and experiences with local entrepreneurs; and support for the internationalization of young entrepreneurship. Present at this meeting were representatives of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), the National Confederation of Young Entrepreneurs (Conaje) and the Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development (ABDI). The other presentation was made for the participants of the 5th CIJE, the them of which was the support for the internationalization of young entrepreneurship.
Presentations were made by two consultants hired by the EU-Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Facility. The external expert Carl James, British economist expert in innovation, and the local expert Arij Chabrawi, science and technology analyst and expert in the design and management of public policies.
The substitute General Coordinator of External Market MDIC, Alessandro Dantas, concluded that the institutional, regulatory and business-oriented interlocution between Brazil, the European Union and its Member States as well as other stakeholders on the issue, enabled the development of the study from the mapping of good practices in the internationalization of firms and the utilization of members of the diaspora, such as coaches and mentors for domestic entrepreneurs.
"By welcoming this action, the Sector Dialogues Support Facility enabled the exchange of information on best practices in the formulation and implementation policies aimed at the theme, which exist in Brazil and Europe and focus on the deepening of mutual understanding of policies, programs and other governance instruments'', he said. Mr. Dantas went on to say that the research work by the two experts and the dialogue between them generated subsidies to thicken government policies and programs to stimulate the internationalization of companies and the country's development.
