The Ministério da Justiça e Cidadania (MJC) [Ministry of Justice and Citizenship] held this month in Brasilia, a workshop to present the first results of the action "Cooperation Strategies between different Levels of Government and between Government Institutions for the Implementation of Public Policies and Services for Immigrants."
The action is part of the European Union-Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Project, an initiative coordinated by the European Union Delegation to Brazil (DELBRA) and the Ministério do Planejamento, Desenvolvimento e Gestão (MP) [Ministry of Planning, Development and Management]. The event was geared to federal civil servants of agencies involved with public policies for migrants and refugees.
According to Raul Miranda Menezes, Specialist in Public Policies and Government Management of the Department of Migration (DEMIG) of the MJC, the meeting discussed good migration management practices within the European Union. "Strengths and weaknesses of European experiences were presented, as well as potential contributions to the debate on the improvement of public policies for migrants and refugees in Brazil," he adds.
Secondly, European adviser, Frederick Suárez, will present a systematization of comments and suggestions for improving coordination among the various levels of government that provide Brazilian services for the social inclusion of migrants and refugees, based on the good practices adopted in Europe and the Brazilian experience.
