This week, the international expert in innovation in the public sector, Sabine Junginger, a consultant for the European Union-Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Project, was in Brasília, where she visited the Ministério do Planejamento, Orçamento e Gestão – MP [Ministry of Planning, Budget and Management] and learned about federal government initiatives in the area of innovation. The visit is part of the activities programmed for the action Brazil-European Union Exchange: Promoting Governmental Innovation and Structuring the Innovation Lab in the Federal Government.
A researcher from Denmark, Sabine Junginger highlighted the partnership agreement entered into by Brazil and Denmark, whose goal is building an Innovation Laboratory. “In this case the government wants to learn about the challenges brought about by innovation and the gains it could bring to the public sector as a whole”, she pointed out. The laboratory, which will be set up in the Escola Nacional de Administração Pública ENAP [Brazilian Public Administration School], will contribute to generate creative and effective solutions, which may change the way public services are rendered.
Sabine Junginger received a Ph.D. in design from Carnegie Mellon University, in Pittsburgh, USA. She is also a visiting professor at the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences and a Fellow at the Hertie School of Governance, both in Berlin, Germany.
