On Tuesday (21st), representatives from Brazil and the European Union launched the new IV Phase of the Sector Dialogues Support Facility. The initiative is an international cooperation agreement focused on financing projects, which have common interests for both sides. In this new phase, approximately € 5.7 million (from European and Brazilian resources), will be invested for over a period of three years. The priority areas announced for the next selection of projects for the 9th call will be: Air and Sea Transport; Science and Technology; Information Society, including digital government and innovation for the public sector, Public Procurement, Human Rights; and Agriculture.
“These are examples of areas where we, together, have so much to learn. There is not one unique formula for success. Otherwise, we are already taking on challenges emerging from the 21st Century and the Dialogues has been designed to exchange experiences,” emphasized by the Ambassador, Mr. João Cravinho, head of the European Delegation in Brazil.
Therefore, in 2017, this Partnership completes 10 years of execution. During the first three phases, more than 200 actions were carried out in 30 thematic areas. The total amount earmarked for cooperation in recent years was € 16.9 million - € 11.6 million from European resources and € 5.3 million as the counterpart from the Brazilian Government.
"The figures prove the success of this Cooperation, in the most varied aspects of the State's performance,” said the Secretary of Management, from the Ministry of Planning, Development and Management (MP), Mr. Gleisson Rubin. In his opinion, every manager will always have two possibilities: spend all his resources to search for a solution by himself or seek inspiration in good practices, which has already been the object of conquest in other contexts. "This second option is already our strategy on where we have bet" he highlighted.
During the event, the publication “Results of the EU-Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Facility - 2008/2016" was launched, in order to present a retrospective of the actions and the remarkable key cases resulting from the cooperation. The publication also includes data from a satisfaction survey conducted by the project team. Among the institutional partners involved, 82% stressed that the Facility was important for exchanging information and good practices. In addition, 59% highlighted the relevance of the measure for the identification and promotion of new projects between the European Union and Brazil.
