This project is part of the actions supported in the 9th Call for Sector Dialogues and is the first example of a Top-Down (of political orientation) carried out by the Initiative.
Brazil is in the process of joining the OECD, having to first meet 280 basic standards, which must be in line with the organization's precepts by the end of 2018. The workshop will be held until next Friday (12).
During the opening of the workshop, the International Relations general coordinator of the Federal Revenue, Flávio Araújo, started the seminar welcoming the participants and stating that the seminar “is a good opportunity to deepen the knowledge of the two systems of Transfer Pricing, both in Brazil and in the European Union".
According to Marcelo Barbosa, the Cooperation in Management general coordinator of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Management (MP), the discussions on the theme will bring Brazil and the EU closer together. "It is important to point out that events like these demonstrate the interest of the federal government with the Sector Dialogues. This is the result of the partnership between the EU and Brazil", he said.
The first adviser and head of the Trade Section of the Delegation of the European Union to Brazil (DELBRA), Nicola Ardito, revealed that "Transfer Pricing is a subject that deserves very detailed discussions, because the EU is very important for Brazil. It is the country's first trade partner with 20% of exports and imports, and if we look at services, that percentage increases even more", he said.
For the head of the Finance and Tax Cooperation Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE), the minister Felipe Santarosa, there is mutual ignorance in this area. He hopes that by the end of the seminar they can come up with a result.
Ronaldo Medina, undersecretary of Customs and International Relations, who at the time replaced the Deputy Secretary of the Federal Revenue, Paulo Ricardo Cardoso, said that the theme "Transfer Pricing is fundamental and strategic for international cooperation. The two models are very different and have both advantages and disadvantages".
During the afternoon, the following conferences were also held: "Transfer Pricing in Brazil", which discussed the Brazilian legislation, its application and comparisons, "The Price and Transfer System in the OECD", which besides explaining the step-by-step operations, it addressed risks, contracts, impacts and opportunities.
The International Workshop on Transfer Pricing has the support of the OECD, the Delegation of the European Union Delegation to Brazil, the Federal Revenue, the Ministry of Planning, Development and Management, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
