In September, in a mission to Brazil, Matti Latva-aho, professor at the University of Oulu, Pei Xiao, University of de Surrey, and Arturo Azcorra, Director of IMDEA Networks, conducted visits to several Brazilian 5G projects. They toured initiatives at the University of São Paulo (USP), CPqD in Campinas, and INTATEL in Santa Rita do Sapucaí/Minas Gerais, with a view to exploring potential partnerships and fostering knowledge exchanges.
“Brazil and the EU can and should be at the forefront of research and development into solutions that will change how human beings interact with the world”, argues Mr Eustáquio Alves, Project Manager at the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication (Ministério da Ciência, Tecnologia, Inovações e Comunicações – MCTIC).
The mission culminated with a workshop on 5G as part of ICT Week, an event held in Brasília. The purpose of the conference was to discuss cyber security in Brazil and propose improvements in the field of information technology.
“As an extension of the action, several days after the workshop members of the Brazilian mission were invited to take part as panel members in the Second Global 5G Event, which will be held in Roma, Italy, and organized by the European, American, and Asian associations engaged in the development of 5G technologies”, says Mr Eustáquio Alves.
