The workshop on Aviation Auditing was sponsored by the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) on 10th and 11th January 2012, in Rio de Janeiro, and had the support of the EU-Brazil Sector Dialogues Support Facility. The event addressed the know-how and skills required to plan and execute audits in civil aviation organisations (airlines, maintenance companies etc.).
"The focus of the seminar programme was to analyse the administration system adopted by companies. Our goal is to ensure acceptable levels of operational safety, " said ANAC technical advisory manager and event organiser, Daniel Ramos Long.
About 50 experts from the civil aviation sector attended the seminar, held at the regulatory agency. The programme addressed topics related to audits in the civil aviation sector: Administrative and Management Systems, ISO 9001 requirements, evaluation and audit process, audit planning, audit techniques (including auditing within ISO 9001), audit practice, audit report, corrective action process, and the IRCA Examination.
"The dynamics of the event, with presentations by European experts and Brazilian technicians, allowed us to compare Brazilian and European practices in the areas of operational safety and security against acts of unlawful interference," said Longo.
The seminar on Aviation Auditing is part of the EU - Brazil Air Transport Sector Dialogue, whose partner institutions are ANAC, in Brazil, and the Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), in Europe.
The Air Transport Dialogue provides EU support for capacity building initiatives and training of technicians in ANACs flight inspection operations, operational safety auditing, flight operations simulator training and crisis management systems.
In addition to the seminar on Aviation Auditing, five other events will be held in 2012 to discuss topics specifically related to issues in operational safety and security of civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference.
